Port Bus Tours Begin – Discover The Heart Of Geraldton’s Maritime Hub

Mid West Ports is excited to announce the launch of its Port Bus Tours next month, offering locals and visitors alike the chance to learn more about port operations and its infrastructure. Tours will run at 10am on the second Wednesday of every month.

The guided bus tours will provide a behind-the-scenes look at one of the Mid West’s key economic hubs. Passengers will enjoy a comfortable ride through the port’s cargo handling facilities, tug harbour, and berths while learning about the intricate logistics of global trade. Tour guides will share insights into the port’s history, environmental sustainability efforts, and the various types of products we export and import.

In addition to offering an educational and engaging experience, all proceeds from the Port Bus Tours will be donated to an annual charity chosen by Mid West Ports. This year Just Raptors, a Geraldton-based charity dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of injured birds of prey across the Mid West is the chosen recipient of any funds raised.

Mid West Ports CEO, Damian Tully said, ‘The Port Bus Tours provide an excellent opportunity for the community to learn about the vital role the port plays in facilitating global trade. We’re delighted to open our doors to the community and offer a closer look at the operations that connect Geraldton to the world. By partnering with Just Raptors, we’re also giving back to a local organisation doing incredible work in wildlife rehabilitation’.

Just Raptors founding member, Janelle Ende, expressed gratitude for the partnership, stating, ‘We are thrilled to be the charity partner for Mid West Ports this financial year. Every ticket purchased will directly support our work to care for injured raptors, ensuring these majestic birds have a second chance at life’.

With seats limited to just 55 per tour, the Port Bus Tours are expected to be highly popular. Bookings are now open for the first tour on Wednesday, 12 February, and can be secured online at https://www.visitgeraldton.com.au/tours/search or by contacting 08 9956 6670.
