Mid West Ports Authority is delighted to announce Theatre 8 Geraldton, Inc. as the recipient of the Not-For-Profit (NFP) Partnership Program, a unique initiative aimed at fostering collaborations with organisations that align with Mid West Ports' organisational values.
Theatre 8 will receive financial assistance and in-kind contributions from Mid West Ports over the next three years as part of the NFP Partnership Program. This collaboration aims to strengthen Theatre 8's capacity and enhance its organisational capabilities, in addition to fostering a deeper connection with the Port.
Theatre 8, a fully self-funded and volunteer-run not-for-profit organisation, operates on the principle that every dollar generated goes directly back into covering the theatre’s operating costs. With a commitment to the community, Theatre 8 stages three adult and two youth productions each year, providing a creative outlet for 60 youth members and 40 adult members.
Mid West Ports was impressed with the impact Theatre 8 has on the local community, fostering a sense of belonging and achievement for its members and the value of creative expression contributed to the community.
Doreen Howells, dedicated Secretary on the board of Theatre 8, reflects on her enduring commitment since joining in 1978, just two years after the formation of the organisation in 1976.
She proudly declares, “Alongside many others, Theatre 8 has been woven into the fabric of their lives”.
Expressing her excitement about the newly forged partnership with Mid West Ports, she emphasises that this collaboration extends beyond mere financial support.
“With this partnership, Theatre 8 gains not only crucial funds for maintenance and repairs but also the invaluable assistance of Port employees, bringing both trade expertise and business skills to enrich and sustain the vibrant cultural tapestry Theatre 8 collectively weave."
Mid West Ports Authority looks forward to supporting Theatre 8's continued contributions to the local cultural landscape and celebrating the positive impact of this partnership on the community.
