Mid West Ports Authority is excited to announce the opening of its annual Community Grants Program on the 5th of February 2024. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to fostering community relationships through actively supporting local projects and initiatives which enhance the well-being and vitality of the region.
Distributing over $100,000 of funds annually through the program, Mid West Ports selects local organisations and groups who are aligned with Mid West Ports' organisational values and demonstrate positive contributions to the community.
Each year, the program empowers local organisations and groups to bring their ideas to life by partnering with them to deliver initiatives and events in the community.
Mid West Ports CEO, Damian Tully said, “We are committed to improving the strength and resilience of our community through the provision of grants to local groups and organisations which provide tangible benefits to Mid West residents.”
“Over the years, Mid West Ports has provided support across our community including school leadership camps, sporting groups, cultural events and regional initiatives.”
“It is encouraging to see the passion and dedication within our community, made up largely of exceptional volunteers and are eager to build upon this success in the upcoming round of grants."
The Mid West Ports Community Grants Program aims to support a diverse range of projects spanning areas such as environmental improvement and protection initiatives, maritime-based education, community welfare programs, youth education and leadership programs, community events and initiatives supporting and creating opportunities for Aboriginal persons.
The Midwest Multicultural Association’s secretary, Yvonne Lovedee, said, “We are very grateful to the Mid West Ports Community Grants Program, which has enabled our group to foster inclusivity and empowerment through our events during the year. These community performances would not be possible without the financial support we receive from local organisations such as Mid West Ports.”
