Each year, Mid West Ports Authority (MWPA) offers funding support to community groups and organisations through its Annual Community Grants Program.
MWPA is committed to making a positive impact in the Mid West community through engagement, capacity building and funding assistance.
The MWPA Annual Community Grants program supports local organisations and groups who are making a positive contribution to the community and are aligned with MWPA’s orgnisational values.
The 2023/24 program attracted 28 applications, with 15 events and initiatives being chosen to be funded to a total value of $104,100.
MWPA funded a range of initiatives and events including; several regional events; cultural and sporting, equipment improvement programs, school leadership programs or camps, and an artwork commission.
Successful recipients include:
- Beachlands Primary School – Year 5/6 Camp
- Champion Bay High School – GRIP Leadership Conference
- Chapman Valley Agricultural Society – Agricultural Passport & Mural
- Fishability Inc – Trailer upgrade
- Flotsam & Jetsam – Event support
- Geraldton Athletics Centre – Long Jump & Triple Jump Runway Facility
- Geraldton Community Toy Library – Water Play
- Geraldton Mountain Bike Club – Backroads Gravel 2023
- Geraldton Blessing of the Fleet – Event support
- Geraldton Water Polo Association – Country Waterpolo Championships
- Holland Street School – IT Enhancement Project
- Midwest Multi-Cultural Association – Geraldton Cultural Events
- Mingenew Midwest Expo – Event support
- Variety WA Midwest – Kids Christmas Party event support
- Waggarakine Primary School – Year 6 Leadership Camp
MWPA is very pleased to support so many valuable events and initiatives in the Mid West and looks forward to receiving updates from the grant recipients over the next year.
The MWPA Annual Grants Program opens at the beginning of each year, with funds to be distributed by June 30, for spending and acquittal in the following financial year.
