Courtney possesses strong senior leadership and management skills, has significant strategic planning and asset management experience, in addition to excellent interpersonal skills. Tony Corbett has been the Trade Development Manager at the Port of Newcastle, NSW, for the last five years, culminating in around 30 years of experience in the ports and logistics sectors.
Mr Corbett in particular has significant experience in developing the diversification of product mix for a port operation, a key strategic objective at MWPA.
Mr Tully said “Tony demonstrated a high level of commercial acumen, analytical skills and significant working knowledge of the shipping and logistics industries, all of which are critical to the success of this role. He will provide excellent leadership to the Trade and Commercial team at a critical time in MWPA’s operations and we look forward to him joining us here at the port”.
Mr Corbett will commence on 1st December 2022.
Mr Tully said “we received numerous quality applications for both positions and feel very privileged to have secured these two high-calibre people to fill these critical roles at MWPA.
“The Chief Operating Officer is a newly formed role at MWPA, combining two previous General Manager roles to bring landside and marine operations, maintenance, assets and engineering all under the one umbrella, with the aim of providing improved synergy across port operations.
“With MWPA embarking on the $350M Port Maxmisation Project, this is a significant opportunity for both these positions as we embark on a very exciting future here at the port.”
